Today’s Scripture:
Scripture: Philippians 4:5 — “Let your gentleness be known to everyone.”
Prayer for the Day:
Loving God, you call us to love our neighbors as ourselves. Help us see every person as your beloved child, worthy of dignity, kindness, and respect. Open our hearts to those who are different from us, those who feel forgotten, and those we may find difficult to love. Remove the barriers of prejudice, fear, and judgment that separate us from one another. Teach us to love not only with our words but through our actions, so that all may experience your grace through us. Amen.

Thoughts About Prayer
There are many people in my life whom I can ask to pray for a person or situation in need, and I know they will. It is a wonderful blessing to be part of a Christian community and to have faithful friends who believe in the power of prayer.
While I am grateful for every prayer offered, there are a few people whose prayers seem especially powerful. When they pray at my request, I can feel it. It is difficult to describe exactly what that feeling is, but it brings a deep sense of peace and confidence that the prayers are being heard and that God will answer them according to His will.
I often find myself wondering why certain people's prayers have such a profound impact. Perhaps these Prayer Warriors possess an especially strong faith. Perhaps they have witnessed God's faithfulness in ways that have strengthened their trust in the power of prayer. Or perhaps they have been uniquely called to encourage and support others through their ministry of prayer.
Whatever the reason, these individuals are a special blessing. They willingly lift up the needs of others and faithfully intercede on behalf of anyone who asks. Their example reminds me of the strength that comes from a community united in faith and prayer.
I am deeply grateful for these Prayer Warriors and for all those who faithfully pray for others. Their willingness to bring concerns, hopes, and needs before God demonstrates both compassion and trust. Through them, I am reminded that prayer is not only a personal act of faith but also a powerful way that believers can support and encourage one another.
Spiritual Practice: Breath Prayer- Prayer of the Heart
Using the scripture, listen for how God is leading you and us in new ways.
Listen for the Holy Spirit using whatever practice you feel led to use. If you find it helpful, use the practice of breath prayer outlined below, or the methods outlined on Monday and Tuesday.
This is a short prayer combining a petition with a name for God. This is a good way to pray throughout the day for insight into how to bless our community.
To find a petition, imagine that Jesus is asking you “what do you want me to do for you?” The answer may be that you want Jesus to fill you, give you strength, show you God’s love, strengthen you, give you patience, surround you, etc.
Choose one of your favorite names for God (Gracious God, Father, Holy Spirit, Christ, Lord, Precious Lord, Holy One, etc.)
Combine Centering Prayer and Prayer of the Heart
Examples include: “Holy Spirit, help me hear you.” “Teacher, help me discern your calling.” “Give me strength, O Christ.” “Father, show me your love.” “Holy Spirit, give me insight” or “Gracious God, bless [name of church member].
Another way is to breathe in and hear the Spirit say “I love you [your name] and breathe out and say “I love you Lord/Jesus/God.”
Sit quietly and repeat the phrase gently for several minutes. Or take a walk, repeating your prayer while you move. Notice how this prayer shapes your perceptions. You can carry this prayer through the day.
Scripture and hymn phrases may be prayed in the same way.
Examples: “Glory to God in the highest!” “My soul magnifies the Lord” “Be still and know that I am God”
Our Prayer for the Week:
Gracious God, as we pray for our community, change us through our prayers. Open our eyes to see as Jesus sees, our hearts to love as Jesus loves, and our hands to serve as Jesus serves. May we become the answer to some of the prayers we lift before you, bringing your peace, justice, compassion, and hope into the lives of our neighbors. Amen.
